EUDR READINESS
Know whether the product is covered before building the compliance workflow.
The most common commercial mistake is assuming that every product containing a covered commodity is automatically covered. Scope depends on the exact product, CN/HS code, supply-chain role and movement into or from the EU market.
Product
Identify the exact product being traded — its physical form, processing state and intended use.
e.g. dried cacao beans, crumb rubber, green coffee, crude palm oil
HS / CN Code
Check the applicable customs classification code used for the product at the EU border.
e.g. CN 1801 00 00 — Cocoa beans, whole or broken, raw or roasted
Annex I Coverage
Determine whether the product’s CN/HS code appears in the current EUDR Annex I list of covered products.
Not every product containing a covered commodity is automatically included.
Supply-Chain Role
Identify the relevant responsible actor — operator, trader or other supply-chain role — in the transaction.
The first actor placing a relevant product on the EU market carries the primary obligation.
Production Origin
Identify the farms, plantations or forests that contributed the covered commodity to the product.
Origin must be traceable to specific plots produced after 31 December 2020.
Output
Scope Assessment
Scope Confirmed
Product is covered; role is identified; evidence requirements are known.
Partial Scope
Some scope elements are confirmed; gaps in product detail or role identification.
Scope Uncertain
CN/HS classification unconfirmed; consult customs specialist.
Out of Scope
Product/code does not appear in current Annex I; re-check at each regulatory update.
Note: GeoEUDR can support product-scope screening, but definitive customs classification should be confirmed by the importer, customs specialist or competent authority.
READINESS SERVICE MODULES
Four connected evidence modules.
First-Mile Evidence
- Supplier registration (SupplierID)
- Farm & parcel registry (FarmID, ParcelID)
- Production profile — commodity, variety, establishment
- Tenure & legality documentation
- Field evidence — geotagged photographs & observations
- Evidence governance — version, reviewer, approval, expiry
Historical Land Use & No-Deforestation
- Parcel comparison with 31 Dec 2020 cut-off
- Land-cover before and after cut-off
- Overlap area and percentage
- Estimated timing and confidence
- Field verification requirement
- Reviewer conclusion and status assignment
Legality Evidence
- Land-use and production rights
- Environmental and forest requirements
- Third-party, customary and Indigenous Peoples' rights
- Labor and human-rights requirements
- Tax, trade and anti-corruption requirements
- Local permits and commodity-specific rules
Chain of Custody
- Delivery records with GPS/time/weight
- Aggregation and batch formation
- Processing input/output reconciliation
- Mass-balance record
- Quantity plausibility checks
- Shipment linkage to contributing parcels
NO-DEFORESTATION EVIDENCE
Convert imagery into a reproducible evidence record — not a decorative map.
GeoEUDR compares production parcels with dated land-cover and forest-change evidence relevant to the 31 December 2020 cut-off. Satellite or aerial imagery supports investigation; it does not automatically replace legal interpretation or risk judgment.
REVIEW RECORD INCLUDES
- Datasets, sensors and imagery dates used
- Coordinate reference system and parcel geometry version
- Land cover before and after the cut-off
- Potential overlap area and percentage
- Estimated timing of detected change
- Confidence, resolution and limitations
- Possible false-positive explanations
- Required field verification
- Reviewer conclusion, status and supporting evidence
NO-DEFORESTATION EVIDENCE
Screened — No Issue Detected
Available evidence does not indicate a post-cut-off event; subject to documented limitations.
Pending Verification
Information exists but uncertainty or ground truth remains; field verification required.
Exception
Overlap, change signal, geometry conflict or missing evidence requires resolution.
Excluded / Blocked
Parcel cannot enter the designated chain under current evidence and controls.
RESPONSIBILITY MODEL
Build a system an independent verifier can examine.
GeoComms makes the supply chain continuously examinable; an independent assurance provider determines whether the defined controls and evidence meet its verification criteria.
